At Christmas we celebrate Incarnation!

The eternal God comes into the day to day life of humanity. Christmas cards portray the little Baby, the Manger, the Magi, the Shepherds. Little children learn that today is Jesus' birthday.

But these pieces of the story only touch the edge of the mysterious event which brings us together. The Good News is that the God of mercy and love has come into the world to bring us perfect peace. To know the peace of mind and heart and soul that the world cannot give, follow Jesus. And when you follow Jesus, do not be surprised to see others following you. After all, the spirit of Christmas is contagious.

With our prayers that you and your loved ones have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year,
from your Parish Church.

We're so glad you dropped by. Whether you live locally, or are just visiting the Forest of Dean and are looking for a variety of opportunities to worship God do come and join us at one of our Sunday or mid-week services.

There are lots of events coming up in both our parishes so please do check out our diary.

Christchurch Forest of Dean was the first parish Church in the historic Royal Forest and has been a centre of worship and prayer for over 200 years.

St Mary the Virgin is a Grade 1 listed Norman church, dating from 1100, standing in an oval churchyard of Saxon origins.

Both churches offer regular worship and pastoral care for the whole community and welcome visitors at any time as both churches are open every day.

We have a great mix of service types and worship across our parishes. As well as holding more traditional services, we also hold informal Cafe and Messy Church services. All are welcome at our services and at any time for prayer or pastoral support.

Wider Church Links

We have good relationships with other Christian congregations in and around the local area and form part of the "Churches Together in Coleford". As Anglicans, both our parishes lie within the Forest South Deanery in the Diocese of Gloucester, which is part of the wider Church of England. Our national church forms one of the many provinces in the global Anglican Communion, which stretches over 165 countries worldwide.
