Funerals

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.

We will work with you and your family, along with your chosen Funeral Director, to ensure that this sad, but special time is all you need it to be and enables people to both grieve their loss and celebrate the life of your loved one.

You may chose special hymns or music, readings and prayers. There may be a Eulogy, pictures to display or even a funny recollection you would like included.

Before and after the funeral, we are here for you to offer pastoral support and a listening ear. Do ask your Funeral Director to contact us if you would like our Pastoral support at a very sad time.

Thinking ahead...

For those with big questions about death, dying and funerals, having someone to talk to can be invaluable. But how do you start those conversations, and with whom?

The Church of England has been helping people think about the big questions for centuries. As well as discussing any of your questions with one of the members of our team, you can also visit churchofenglandfunerals.org/gravetalk/ for guidance.
